Tasting note
About this wine
Piquepoul Rose Vignobles Foncalieu 2024 A proper curiosity from the South of France: a pale pink rose made from Piquepoul Noir, a traditional Languedoc grape that is now rarely seen on its own. It keeps the easy freshness you would hope for from the name Piquepoul, but brings a softer, red-fruited rose character.
Expect cherry blossom, strawberries and peach on the nose, with summer berry fruit, a gentle note of crushed rose petals and a clean citrus lift on the finish. It is fresh, light-footed and very drinkable, but with enough interest to make it more than just a sunny-day bottle. Serve well chilled with grilled prawns, tomato salads, salmon, picnic food, herby chicken or a simple bowl of olives and crisps before dinner.
